Introducing The "JOTATITTLE" COLLECTION

 "Jotatittle" Collectors
* Love unusual pieces of art
*  Want to give a special person in their life an one of a kind gift

THE ARTISTIC PROCESS:

When I draw or paint the "Jotatittle" Collection no two pieces will ever be the same, they are truly, "ONE OF A KIND".
I begin by examining the object and let it's shape guide me in what artistic strokes would best enhance each art piece.

If you look closely at the design work you might just find a little "hidden treasure" in the shape of forms, words even Scripture references.  Another important part is when I prayerfully seek to place just the right message or symbolic design hoping the recipient will see a some of God's joy, strength, encouragement and love every time they look at the artwork.

What is a "jotatittle?"
You may be wondering where did the word come from?

I was looking for a way to communicate the uniqueness of this art form, so I coined the word from my business name; Jot and Tittle Artworks.  It seemed appropriate since the words jot and tittle found in (Matthew 5:17-19) mean a dot and stroke.

Meet the Artist

Artist, Laurie Grawl
My Home Studio

Hello and Welcome,

Thank you for visiting my site and letting me introduce myself.  I have had a very eventful journey thus far in life.   This Fall 2011, I am happy to have celebrated 30 years of marriage to my wonderful, supportive husband.  I also hit another milestone in coming to the end of 26 years of choosing to stay at home and raise our two daughters,  and to have home-schooled our youngest.  We are so proud of them being well on their way to finishing college and starting lives/careers of their own.

Over 14 years ago I discovered that I had a very rare, life threatening genetic disorder  Then 7 years later I received one of God's great blessings; a complete healing and recovery (Matthew 9:22).  This was just one of the many trials in a line of events that ranged from a major car accident to being held at gun point in a bank armed robbery.  Seems like life has given me and my family some interesting and difficult experiences which hopefully have grown us in our faith and better people.

You could say I began my journey as an artist at the young age of 3, with two pencil drawings- a birthday cake  and a grasshopper.  After High school graduation, I attended the University of Houston in 1978 pursuing a Fine Art degree in Interior Design.  I never received my degree, but was fortunate to successfully have my own decorating business from 1982-1985.   Now that I am free on the home front, have after 34 years decided it was time to complete a BFA degree in Studio Art with a double minor in Advertising/Graphic Design & Marketing. I will be attending Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, beginning with studio classes in the Spring 2012 semester.

I truly feel blessed being one of God's vessels and being able to use the artistic talents that I possessUntil now I have been known primarily for my skills in portraiture having been commissioned over the last 10 years to complete portraits in oils, watercolor, acrylic and colored pencil.  Botanical art is another interest of mine and have successfully completed my first Botanical Drawing course online at Cornell University- Summer 2010.

Now it makes me very happy to be able to introduce the "Jotatittle" Collection.  It is not only a fun way to collect original art, but you will be helping to feed people in need.  When you make a purchase of any pieces in this collection, I will donate 10% to a local community Food Pantry.

Hopefully this gives you a better idea of the artist behind each piece while remembering the True Artist; God, is the real Creator.  "Whatever you do, do to the glory of God."  (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Please feel free to contact me at any time or leave a comment.

Many Blessings,
Laurie
